WHAT IS SPORTS MASSAGE?

Sports massage is a deep massage with the basis of Swedish massage but designed and focused exclusively on caring for, protecting and preparing the muscle tissues when performing physical activity to prevent injuries, maintain physical tone, recover, give a greater range of mobility and improve the athlete’s performance.
It is a focused massage aimed at athletes with regular physical activity.
To start, maintain or prepare for a competition or activity that subjects the body to superior physical conditions.
Any regular physical activity maintained requires a sports massage regularly to maintain, recover or prevent possible injuries.

 

Sports massages can be divided into 4 types fundamentally:

1 The sports massage of prevention. (Pre-competitive)
The objective of this massage is to prepare the muscles in order to prevent injuries, and optimize our performance.
It will be done before an intense physical activity in order to warm up, stretch, drain, oxygenate and activate the muscle.

2. The sports recovery massage. (Post-competitive)
The objective of this massage will be to eliminate muscle spasms, eliminate waste substances helping to drain and relax the muscles.
We will do this massage after intense physical activity as soon as possible without allowing time for the area to cool down or relax too much.

3. Maintenance sports massage.
A regular periodic massage is advisable to keep the muscle in an optimal state, review and anticipate any possible injury.

4. An important part of sports massage is stretching.
Stretching is the lengthening of the muscle beyond its length in its resting position. They are gentle and sustained exercises that serve to prepare the muscles for greater effort and increase the range of motion in the joints.

2. Reduces the likelihood of injury.
3. Increases the supply of blood and nutrients to muscles and cartilage.

How long does a sports massage last?

Prevention sports massage should not last more than 10 minutes per area to be treated.

The sports recovery massage is longer but not more than 25 to 30 minutes per treated area.

The maintenance sports massage we always recommend a generic full body 55 minutes medium intensity.
